Hearing Awareness Week is a vital part of the ongoing effort by the industry to raise the profile of issues faced by people affected by Hearing Loss.
Parliamentary Breakfast – Hearing Awareness Week 2020
To help raise awareness of hearing health and impairment this World Hearing Day and during Hearing Awareness Week HCIA commissioned Deloitte Access Economics to update the 2017 social and economic costs of hearing loss and calculate a new eligibility for the HSP for vulnerable Australians.
- On Wednesday 4 March 2020 during Hearing Awareness Week, the Hearing Care Industry Association held its 6th Parliamentary Breakfast at Parliament House.

Hearing Awareness Week 2019
The Hearing Awareness Week was held 3 – 9 March 2019 to coincide with World Hearing Day on 3 March 2019.
Hearing Awareness Week 2018
The Hearing Awareness Week was held from 25 February to 3 March 2018 – and has been moved from August to the end of February / March each year from now on.
Parliamentary Breakfast – Hearing Awareness Week 2017
As part of Hearing Awareness Week 2017, The Hearing Care Industry Association (HCIA) welcomes the Australian parliament’s current focus on hearing health and calls on Government to declare hearing health a National Health Priority.
- HCIA believes good policy should be evidence-based which is why it funded the Social and Economic Cost of Hearing Health in Australia – June 2017 prepared by Deloitte Access Economics (which updates and expands upon the 2006 Report by Deloitte on the Economic Impact of Hearing Loss in Australia).

Highlights from Hearing Awareness Week 2015
- On 18 August 2015, in the week preceding Hearing Awareness Week , HCIA held its 4th annual Parliamentary Breakfast at Parliament House. The breakfast was attended by more than 40 guests including advisors, senior representatives of the Department of Health, consumer groups and members of the hearing care industry.

- On Wednesday 27 August 2014, the Hearing Care Industry Association held its 3rd Parliamentary Breakfast at Parliament House. The breakfast was attended by over 40 other guests comprising Parliamentarians, advisors, senior representatives of the Department of Health, consumer groups and members of the hearing care industry.

Highlights from Hearing Awareness Week 2013
- Hearing Awareness Week 2013 saw the first ever Silent Leadership Challenge in Australia raising just under $30,000 to establish the Hearing Aid Bank.
- The Annual Parliamentary Breakfast was not held during Hearing Awareness Week, 2013 due to the imminent Federal Election.
