About hearing loss

The prevalence of hearing loss (better ear) in 2019-20 is estimated to be 3.95 million people. This represents 15.3% of the total population.

Since 2017, an additional 350,000 people now live with hearing loss, an increase of 9.7% since 2017.

By 2025, it is estimated that hearing loss will increase by more than 10% to 4.4 million cases and to 7.8 million cases by 2066 (almost double the current number).
